The Story of Jon Pezzente as A Real Estate Agent

In order to let our reader find out about Jon and how he managed to build his business, we asked him a couple of questions:

1.     Why did you choose the Real Estate Industry and how did you get started?

” Real estate has always been a passion of mine. From a young age, I watched my uncles flourish in the industry. And I aspired to follow in their footsteps.  I joined a small brokerage in West Vancouver and started working at a sales centre for a new townhome project. It was a great experience and I still use what I learned back then in my day to day work schedule. “

2.     What’s your favorite aspect of real estate?

” There are so many amazing aspects of real estate. From meeting so many incredible people to creating the perfect marketing strategy for each individual listing. However, seeing the smiles on my clients’ faces when they are handed the keys to their new home has to be my favourite part. “

3.     What are the common misconceptions about real estate?

” The most common misconception about real estate is that it is an easy career choice. In reality, it takes a lot of dedication and self-motivation to become an established agent. I am always on my phone and work every day. But it’s not really work if you love what you’re doing 🙂 “

4.     Describe your most successful day on the job so far. Why do you consider it a success?

” Tough question! I have been very fortunate to have been awarded all the highest awards and accolades our industry has to offer, but it all goes back to my first sale. I was in my early 20’s, I met a couple looking to buy at an open house. They ended up purchasing a condo through me and they are still my clients to this day. “

5.     What was your worst day on the job, and what did you learn from that experience?

” Early in my career, I found I was losing listings to top agents. I would hear from the clients that they wanted someone with more experience.  It was a really tough time and it made me question whether I had what it took to succeed in this industry. From this experience, however, I learned that it would take a lot of hard work, self-motivation, and co-operation with more experienced agents to ensure that I would be in a better position to secure those listings in the future.”

6.     Would you mind telling us something interesting about one of your active listings?

” I am very excited to be selling the first passive townhomes in North Vancouver called Evolv35. These brand new homes are a fantastic option for families or investors with savings of up to 90% on their energy bills. All homes have 3-4 bedrooms, rental suites, attached garages and are conveniently located in a walkable, family-friendly neighborhood. We have so many wonderful listings but they are going quick! “

7.     How are you using technology to both capture potential clients’ attention and provide them better service?

“We try to stay on top of all forms of technology and marketing to bring the most value to our clients. There are some amazing tools available such as Matterport, which allows a home buyer to virtually walk through the entire listing from the comfort of their own home. Virtual tools, like Matterport, and social media are a great way to expose our listings to a wider audience, especially considering the unprecedented times that we are experiencing today. “

8.     If you could offer a new agent one piece of advice, what would it be?

” I would advise a new agent to seek out and connect with the top agents in their community to gain knowledge about their specific city and what they have done to become successful. Real estate is a very competitive industry and it takes years of experience and dedication to get to the top. The first questions I ask new agents are: why real estate and are you ready to work 7 days a week. Those 2 questions are a good indication of if this person can become a top realtor. “
