Springfield contemplates housing problems

Springfield City Council is focusing on enforcing housing rules and enhancing public transparency. New maps have been introduced to track enforcement progress. Strategies are being developed to deal with non-criminal nuisance properties using underused ordinances, particularly targeting absentee landlords and abandoned properties. The council is also addressing issues of over 290 neglected properties attracting hazards, with limited resources for maintenance. Proposals have been made to allocate funds for tree removal on abandoned properties to ensure safety.
