Dawna was raised in a âreal estate familyâ in Southern California, but that wasnât how her story began. Her mother died when she was just ten years old, and from that moment, she was âin chargeâ. Her Dad was a cross country truck driver, which meant that Dawna and her younger sister spent days, sometimes weeks, alone. As a result, Dawna learned to budget, or they would go hungry. She kept the house clean, mowed the lawn, got them both to school on time and made sure their homework was done. Though they were challenging times, it taught her how to schedule, plan, and execute--attributes that would come in handy later in her life as a military spouse and Mum. Her Dad remarried when she was 15, and her step-mum is the one who brought real estate into her life. She recalls standing on front porches and listening to her step-mum chat up virtual strangers and turn them into family friends. It was a talent she would mimic quite well in the future. And when she became an Air Force Commanderâs wife, all those life lessons kept her grounded, and those underneath her husband Tomâs command knew that they could count on her to keep their families sorted when they deployed. Since that time, Dawna has raised four kids on three continents, and bought and sold homes in three countries. Each situation called for finesse and negotiation skills because of the language barriers and culture. You could say sheâs learned a thing or two about relocation and different lifestyles. It was when they landed in Pensacola, Florida, that she fell in love with the white sand beaches and Gulf Life. Her focus today is to provide first class service to active, empty nesters seeking to locate or market a lifestyle on or near the water, so they can life the Gulf Life every day. Dawna is an advocate for her clients and earns their trust by providing an exceptional level of personal attention and constant communication. Sheâll help you locate a new area and walk you through each step with confidence and ease. She spent 25 years as a copywriter and is the author of the marketing book, âWork With Your Copywriter...And You Both Win!â. As for her negotiation skills, those began at a young age of independence, as well as learning the real estate trade from her family. Dawna is proud of her four children, Krista, Tom, Mykala, and Patrick, and 9 grandchildren, and spends as much time with them as possible. She lives in Gulf Breeze with her husband, Tom, and loves to wake up each day near the water and the lifestyle they both love. She and Tom are also firm believers in adopting rescues. They currently have two dogs and two ferrets, and all four bring joy and mischief to their life. Her childhood may have begun a little rocky, but she says it started her on a path of resourcefulness and independence, and definitely made her the woman she is today. And thereâs certainly nothing rocky about a white sandy beach, no alarm clock, and helping others locate and live the Gulf Life every day.
