3 Of 5 Collegedale Commissioners Approve 12% Property Tax Increase

The Collegedale City Commission discussed a 12 percent property rate increase and various items in the budget that caused concern among residents. Mayor Morty Lloyd said inflation is the cause for the increase and the city is trying to offset costs without reducing services. Suggestions were made to use $3 million of the $4 million bond to offset expenses instead of using taxes, but ultimately the budget was passed as required by state law.
